Frequently asked questions
A basic course should allow you the express yourself in a basic Italian by the end of it. You should be able to make simple sentences and to ask simple questions. When you complete the course, you’ll have the basics to either continue learning the language with an intermediate course, or to practice your Italian once you visit the country.
No, you don’t need any books, but if you’ve already got one you can use it as a support. We provide you with all the material you need, especially with regards to exercises and the grammar. We send the PDF files a head of each lesson and the homework afterword, and you can decide if you prefer to work on your laptop or to print the materials.
We have very good experiences with duo-courses. It is usually very nice and interactive to do such a course for two persons who know each other well. For this course format to work at its best, it is very important that the two persons start from a very similar level and have a similar exposure to the language.
Of course it is possible to cancel/reschedule a lesson, and it can be done up to 24 hours before the originally scheduled time. However, to allow us more flexibility with rescheduling the cancelled lesson, especially if another lesson in the same week is desired, it is important we know about any changes as early as possible.
For beginners, a minimum of 1 lesson per week is highly recommended. Two lessons per week are ideal if the student has some free time for practicing during the week. For students with previous knowledge of Italian, we can find together the number of lessons per week that fits best their needs and their goals. What is very important, is to have some time to practice between the lessons.
A regular course usually lasts from 5 to 10 weeks. Our students generally take 1-2 lessons per week. However, we try to be as flexible as possible, and it is always possible to discuss during the trial lesson your specific situation and fit the course to the timeframe that fits you best.
One lesson lasts 60 minutes. Upon request, or for specific reasons, it is possible to do 50 or 90-minute lessons. However, being the lessons very intense, a maximum of 60 minutes per session is the optimal recommended duration.
In our opinion, 10 is the optimal number of lessons for us to help students at all levels achieving their goals. This isevident especially for beginners, for whom it usually takes the first few lessons to learn the basics, and the rest of the course to start building conversation and other skills. After the 10 lessons it is always possible to keep on learning by enrolling in a subsequent course or discuss other solutions.
